SOFA activities in 2020
The year 2020 has brought so many drastic changes in human life style. The spread of Covid-19 virus changed our thoughts, actions and working style. Every one voluntarily tried to prevent the spread of Covid-19 virus. In year 2020, SOFA started its activities with supporting the people who are suffering due to covid-19 consequences.
Support @ Covid-19 Lock down
1. Distribution of Groceries:
In COVID-19 lock down period, many people were not affected due to Corona virus, but most of them were suffering just to get enough food to stay alive. NGOs and voluntary social service organisations started campaigns to distribute food and grocery items and funds to the poor.
SOFA proposed to distribute Grocery items to really needy people, who didn’t get any support from their family and society. All members responded extraordinarily and successfully supported more than 200 families in Salur town and also surrounding villages.
SOFA team members participated actively and successfully extended support to more than 200 families.
2. “Masks to Prevent COVID-19” awareness campaign:
SOFA, Salur Old Friends Association, took strode in enlighten the awareness of usage of masks to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Government has distributed masks and instructed all to use masks. But many are not using masks due to either lack of awareness or due to shortage of masks. Some people are covering their mouth/nose partially with handkerchiefs or dress materials and some are wandering on the roads without having any protective measures of Corona.
SOFA members found the gravity of the burning problem and necessity of educate the awareness of wearing triple layer masks to public especially to the street vendors, workers and beggars. SOFA has distributed thousand triple layered masks in and around Salur in order to bring awareness of “Usage of masks to Prevent COVID-19”.
With the permission and the inception of town sub-inspector of police, Sri Fakruddin Ahmed, SOFA members distributed triple layered, washable masks to the vegetable vendors, beggers, patients at hospitals and the wanderers in July and Aug 2020.
This program attained good response and spread necessary awareness among the public.
3. “Financial Support ” to Private Teachers group :
During COVID-19, the staff of many education institutes also effected badly due to financial crisis. Salur Old Friends Association, came forward to extend fanatical support to some of private teachers.
